Kia Ora and Welcome to Hautapu School
Hautapu School is a community empowering life long learners to achieve and make a difference.
At Hautapu School we embrace a culture of learning. Students are encouraged and supported to achieve their best in a friendly, nurturing environment. We develop skills that ensure students are life long learners who have the abilty to set goals for their future learning steps. The learning extends to the teaching staff also. We have an experienced staff who successfully maintain a modern child-centered teaching approach.
Effective planning and governance ensures Hautapu School is extremely well resourced and students have top quality facilities and equipment to support their learning.
As a semi-rural school we pride ourselves on our community partnerships and the high parent involvement in our school and in the students learning. There are many opportunities for parents to be involved in our school whether it be at Board of Trustees level, Friends of Hautapu School, coaching a sports team or supporting a cultural activity, camp or other learning experience. Effective communication between the school and our parents and community ensure we serve the needs of all the students who attend our school.
We look forward to having you and your children at Hautapu School and will work with you to make that relationship a happy, safe and successful one.
I welcome the opportunity to meet with you. Please make an appointment with the school’s office manager to meet with me if you would like more information about our school.

PRINCIPAL
Hautapu is a full primary school located on the corner of Hautapu Road and Forrest Road, approximately 5 km north of Cambridge and 15km south of Hamilton. Hautapu School was founded in 1878, and moved onto its present site in 1910.
Since that time, the Hautapu District has evolved from being a predominantly dairying area to a lifestyle and horse rearing and training area. There are many small land holdings of 1 to 6 hectares, and several horticulture and stud properties have been successfully established. Our school community covers a very diverse range of occupations, with a significant number of families coming from the local surrounding area including the Hautapu Village, with many previously enrolling from Cambridge and Leamington.
We are fortunate that we can still retain the country flavour and atmosphere and take pride in our status as a leading semi-rural school.
It has always been a district in which parents’ involvement has been high, and many projects have been undertaken resulting in a very modern, well-resourced and attractive school. This high level of parent and community support continues today, and we encourage parents, past pupils and other friends of the school to become involved and keep that momentum going. We have a very proactive BOT and Friends of Hautapu School, and terrific community support for them.
We trust that your family enjoy their time at Hautapu School, and find the association an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
