Hautapu is a full primary school, U4, Decile 10 , catering for Year 0 to Year 8. Currently there are 202 pupils enrolled in the school, located on the corner of Hautapu Road and Forrest Road, approximately 5 km north of Cambridge and 15km south of Hamilton.
Hautapu School was founded in 1878, and moved onto its present site in 1912. The school comprises 9 classrooms, new school hall, computer room, library, new 20 metre swimming pool, administration block, two playgrounds, netball/tenniscourts and large playing fields. The school also has the services of a RTLB (Resource teacher of learning and behaviour)

The School Newsletter is published every other Monday and sent home with the youngest child at school from each family.
The newslettter is an effective communication tool and advertising agent for the school and community. It allows us to welcome new families to the area, send birthday greetings and to recognise special cultural, sporting, academic or other achievements of the pupils or their parents. All material for newsletter publication needs to be in the office by Monday 9am, so as not to hold up the publishing on Monday.
